I am being asked a lot  why I started to produce & record my own music and many of you have been asking me for help getting your own project off the ground.
Well, initially I really didn't set out to learn music production but this is what happened to me about 4 years ago while still in Highschool. I had written seven songs with my band and we wanted  to record the three best songs and post them on MySpace so we could show them to the world. This was a time when MySpace was still hot!

          We pooled our money and between the 5 of us we had $1200,- for our 3 song demo. So we went off & contacted a couple of local recording studios out of theyellowbook and some off craigslist.After interviewing some of these studio's we decided on a studio and to make a long story short ,we spent about $2500,- for 3 songs .Instead of the $1200,- we had budgeted for this.We put them on MySpace and yes the sound was great, but today I wouldn't want to show off those songs.I refer to them as "polished turds"

 

          The following year  we had some more songs to record and decided to choose another studio because we felt ripped off by the first studio because they got us on the back end, guess what? Again, the same thing happened and we wound up way over budget. So one day I was at Guitar center buying some strings and was telling the sales clerk about my troubles and if he had any honest recording studio's he could recommend me to.You kow what he said? He said it's a common practice for recording studios " Etienne the music industry makes billions and a lot of it is being made by selling stuff to people with stars in their eyes"

          The Guitar Center sales person made me  realize that it was the good'ol "bait & switch method" where they quote you one price and slowly inch their way up to what they feel you should pay for a 3 song demo.And as a newbie I didn't know any better so I wound up overpaying.

          Every industry has up sells and hidden costs I am told because the excact same thing happened all over again when I started to make my first music video's.You sign up for a $1400,- project and it winds up over budget costing nearly $2700,-.as a matter of fact I still have a outstanding bill & a video waiting to be paid for because the agreed amount went way over budget. I took the time & learned how to make music video's on my own and am pumping them out like hotcakes today.

          There are thousands of startup screamo bands out there that are facing the same problem.One of the most important things to do,when starting your music career is the recording of your promo demo.As the leader of independent Post Hardcore music it is my obligation to make my knowledge and studio available to independent artists like yourself . I initially thought that I couldn't help everybody because of distance restraints but people have been flying & driving in from all over the nation.

          Before I tell you how much I charge, let me first tell you about the bonusses. Exposure & Promotion that no other recording studio offers. Yes they'll tell you that they've worked with this and that famous person and they have such and such connection. But nobody can guarantee you. I have direct to fan business model. I cut out all gatekeepers & middlemen and take your music right to the fans. The only place where it counts.
